Jim's Addendum to Ron's Car Story.

Big brother Jim Eason, drove this T-Bird to East High School in the 50s. While brother, Ron, was busy building and customizing his '47 FordJim was busy with his car as well.

T-Bird

It seems Jim liked to press metal. Heavy footed, Jim racked up a few speeding violations. In fact, he had so many, the police [or more likely Dad] forced Jim to put the car up on blocks. Apparently someone thought a cooling down period might be a worthwhile lesson. Quite a frustration for a young dating fellow! Undaunted by minor inconvenience, Jim's work around was to borrow Ron's convertible but un-beknowst to him he wasn't quite ready for the challenge of a custom-built car.

The '47 had a mind of it's own. According to Jim, it had quite a few quirks like: "you couldn't get it in reverse." And, shifting required more than average expertise, which of course, Jim hadn't developed since he hadn't driven the car. (Do you have visions of one of those learners who makes the car lurch forward a half dozen time?) Anyway, Jim exerted his will over the car and with his learning impairment 'sort of' worked out, Jim picked up his girl-friend for their planned outing. A short while into the date it started raining. Now, remember what Ron said about rain. It was raining and all too soon ... raining hard! Jim, throwing aside the glamour of a convertible, decided a cover would be a wise choise but I guess the car's will was stronger than Jim's because he couldn't get the top up so instead of a date, Jim (and girlfriend) got a cold drenching shower.
